FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How do I get to Meribel?

There are various forms of transport for you to get to us which are outlined below. If you'd like further advice, feel free to pick up the phone or drop an email, and we would be happy to help you.

  • Flights - We do not offer flights as part of our packages, however we do advise that you to always check for Airport Transfer availability before booking your flights. Meribel is close to 4 Airports - Geneva, Chambery, Lyon and Grenoble, and all airports are with 2 to 3 hours from Meribel depending on traffic. We advise you to use Skyscanner or Kayak to find the best flight prices.

  • Airport Transfers - We can help you arrange arrival and departure transfers from any local airport. Our suppliers have up to 16 seater minibuses, allowing enough space for a whole chalet booking to arrive in one vehicle. For those of you bringing ski gear or lots of luggage, we can source trailers for additional luggage space.

  • Driving - There are 2 private parking spaces outside the Chalet for those of you that wish to drive. During the summer months there are plenty of other free parking options, but busy winter weeks would require for any additional cars to be kept in Meribel's various paid parking areas. For estimated driving times from your departure location, please use our Google Maps Location.

  • Train - Moutiers Train Station is a short 20 minute drive from Meribel Centre. With the Eurostar running from London St Pancras, direct trains from Geneva Airport or all over France, the train is an affordable and easy way to travel. Upon arriving in Moutiers, we can help arrange a transfer for you from the station to the chalet.

2. Can I book just one room in the Chalet?

Chalet Matterhorn can predominantly be booked as a private sole occupancy holiday for one group. For weeks

3. There are 7 couples in the group, can we all have double beds?

We do our best to cater for all our groups needs. Whether you are 15 single travellers, families with babies, or a mix of friends in couples. We have 2 designated Double Rooms, as well as 3 Flexi Rooms allowing the beds to be Twins or Doubles, as well as a Triple room that can be 3 Single Beds or a Double and Single. Providing comfortable double beds for more than 6 couples becomes a bit difficult, but please contact us if it's a make or break deal.

4. How far are the ski lifts?

All the central ski lifts are a 10 minute walk from the chalet, however we know too well that walking in ski boots is not the best. The bus stop is a short 1-2 minute walk from the chalet, and the buses run at regular (5-10 minute) intervals from 8:30am to 9:30am and within sub 5 minutes you'll be dropped off at all the main lifts. The buses run at regular intervals throughout the day, and you can either walk home from Meribel centre or catch the bus.

We can also offer a daily private taxi service - this is 2 vans to collect you in the morning and 2 collections later in the day to get you back to the chalet. This is an additional fee of €600 that must be reserved in advance and paid for separately.

5. How far are the shops, bars & restaurants?

The the largest supermarket in Meribel - Spar is only a 2 minute walk at the end of our road. Next to this is a great local cheese shop, as well as The Brewer's Den and Sullys the local nightclub. All other bars, shops and restaurants are a short 7 minute walk away in Meribel Centre.

6. Is there free transport available? If so, how far from the Chalet?

Meribus has a free bus service which runs regularly seven days per week during the winter and summer seasons. There are four lines:

  • Line A - La Chaudanne, Meribel Village and Les Allues including the hamlets Chandon, Le Raffort and Mussillon.

  • Line B - The Rond Point aka Ronnie and Belvedere every 15-20 minutes throughout the day.

  • Line C runs between La Chaudanne and the Altiport every 15 minutes and

  • Line D connects Meribel Centre with Mottaret and Le Hameau.
